Many people have come to me and inquired that their interpretation of spirituality was so different than mine, how do I reconcile them? The question that immediately comes to mind is I wonder why I have any need to. Herein lies the true understanding of spirituality, everyone interprets it differently, and that’s ok. Today I’d like to speak to the perceived necessity of reconciling our beliefs under a common flag of inclusion, and the impracticality of that process from a fundamental level. Spirituality should be in absolute parallel with us as physical human beings. Today, we’ll look at some key indicators that we all need to focus on, as we embrace our own spirituality, instead of constantly searching for reasons of division and segregation.
Today I’d like to address the perceived need for reconciling my beliefs against the beliefs of others within the spiritual community. The first example I draw a parallel between gazing upon the infinity of a deity, and the witnessing of a fishing lure splashing into a mountain lake. As we are not standing at the same point, we will obviously have two different perspectives on the lure entering the lake surface. So too are each of our perspectives on our relationship with our deity, and the spiritual realm around us. Let us take a moment to consider our relationship with our significant others. Most of us do not walk down the street shouting that we are the spouse of. So too should our relationship me with the most of all our intimate relationships, our deity.
What really is the understanding of spirituality at its core? Spirituality should be the interpretation we receive intrinsically from our ability of listening with our heart instead of our ears. While looking at spirituality from outside ourself, we know that there millions of spiritual entities that surround us everyday. These spiritual entities offer us a multitude of benefits that, as physical beings on a journey of understanding and controlling our emotions in an effort to learn empathy, should take advantage of.
To this point, let us take a minute to help us all understand this “communications” we receive from these multiple sources. How exactly do the spirits, and our deities communicate with us. With the idea that physical beings are blessed with the use of the own free will, our spiritual entities provide ideas and thoughts in our mind to encourage our path. The more information that these entities provide us, the stronger the “mental nudge” we are receiving, is the easiest way to explain how it works. When the deities are providing these nudges, they typically will align opportunities with this nudge direction. These opportunities are to entice us, while paving the way for successful trajectory alteration. This is very important to recognize.
While many have approached me about understanding the reason of this connectivity, and informed me that they have never believed in this type of beliefs. However, in the same manner, they have found themselves searching for answers. Our spiritual connection is on, all the time, and we are constantly being interacted with by three (3) different spiritual sources:
Many immediately assume that whenever discussing spirits, we are talking about evil, or black magic. Nothing could be further from the truth. The fact that the energy exchanged between our aura and these other entities is completely neutral, and it is only our intent that perverts the energy for dark purposes, or for good. It is the intent within one’s heart that determines the polarity of that energy. Therefore the onus is upon each of us to recognize this energy and use it to better ourselves, our family, our community, and society as a whole.
While many assume that with a population of this many, there would be nothing but noise, however, there is a degree of separation when it comes to communicating with spiritual entities. This missing link lies within each of us by making a conscious connection between our physical mental processing, and our spiritual selves. While this may seem simplistic enough, one must understand the challenges that lie between the two halves of the self. The first hurdle is ego. We, as modern day physical beings, must accept the idea that the greatest wisdom in existence is outside our reach. By sacrificing ourselves to the mercy of the fates (like Odin did on the tree of life at the hands of the fates), we too must be willing and able to share the knowledge from the spirits with our clansmen and women. We must put aside our pride, and our ego, to fully receive and understand the message from these spiritual entities. Our next facet to conquer is our emotional stability. Emotional stability really has several subsections within it that will challenge us. While I strongly encourage meditation, and self-time, if the self retains small, emotionally charged, nuggets of memories, this has a very strong tendency to surface when least expected, and introduces a potential level of volatility to the control. By having the small, almost forgotten emotional land mines removed, we will experience a much deeper still, for this is truly the way to discover inner peace. With these two pieces taken care of, or handled at least, we can move to understanding how we listen with our hearts instead of our ears.
When speaking about “listening with our heart” many have asked me how do they do that. So, today, I’d like to take a moment to go through a fairly quick exercise with you to do that. In much the same way music can capture our focus, so too can the peaceful tranquility of the the still mind. When listening with one’s heart, having the openness to accept the message is only half the event, we need to fully experience the “deep emotion” that we attach to this idea, or thought. These sessions are not about hearing voices, although sometimes that happens, as ideas or thoughts come into our mind, we must have deeper thoughts about how we “feel” about the information. I will guide you through an exercise I use when I seek clarity.
To begin the process of establishing my connection to the spiritual realm, I call upon those to help me understand. Realizing that it may require the universal knowledge, I call for my deities as well.
I find a comfortable place to be seated where I will not be disturbed, because I have younger children in my home, I have found it works best after their bedtime. After being seated I close my eyes and consciously relax. Depending on the level of stress from the day, sometimes I may hum a little with a deeper voice to find the frequency that feels good.
Ódinn here I am before you seeking knowledge and understanding. Freyja tonight I come before you to better understand that I may teach those here on Midgard. I call upon the powers and authority of the Landvætti to transfer this knowledge and wisdom to me. So let it be.
By consciously relaxing, this means I think about anything from today that may be lingering as a stressful thought in my memory. I seek them out, and challenge them as to their validity. This exercise takes me about five minutes, meanwhile my body has become completely limp and relaxed. Once those stragglers of emotional draws are removed, I ask myself about the situation that I seek clarity on. In my mind only, I explain what my brain thinks it knows, and ask for clarification. I focus diligently on opening my mind to different possibilities.
Typically I dedicate a half hour each day, and most of the times this time frame has done very well for me. Sometimes during the year I go to the mountains near my home in south central Alaska and take time away from all people, and the urban jungle to truly focus on extending my scope within my mind by working with the spirits of nature. During these times I may perform this exercise several times a day.
Seeking this knowledge is, by definition, spiritual. While questions may come up about whether we believe in a deity, or several deities? It is here that we can begin to feel the answers to our questions. The more often we engage Jen this type of study, the more we’ll discover our truth. Our truth is what will help us discover our life’s trajectory, and more importantly, how then, to take back the control.
