As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Inguz- “It could mean time for oneself, expectation, internal growth, gestation, or resting.”

Present Influences

Kenaz – “It can mean new information, offspring, transformation, craft, technical or artistic ability.”

Future Influences

Ihwaz- “It could mean protection, initiation, endurance, and movement toward enlightenment.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers. 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn Inguz. As we delve into our past to determine what lessons we might have received, Inguz tells of our personal development. However, these personal lessons of life may have been incredibly subtle, almost imperceptible. Taking the time to embrace these experiences to determine lessons they offer is critical to establishing a solid foundation moving forward.

Our present influence is that of Kenaz. Our present rune, that of Kenaz, indicates the necessity for our cognitive faculties, and clarity of thought. Making sense of the past and seeing its application to our future, by absorbing the lessons offered, and merging them with the new information being received here in your present.  Kenaz offers the potential of transformation, particularly to our perspective as to values carried forward from our past to the moment. Be willing to change your perspective, to embrace the movement toward enlightenment.

Today, we need to ponder our future as we prepare ourselves for the many changes that will occur within the energy passing through the body’s chakra. Our future tells us that we have initiated a journey toward the enlightenment we seek within the spirits, embrace the energy and you will be moved in that direction.

Fehu represents the young lover, and first impressions, thereby indicating that we have found a connection to the ancestors and have fallen in love with an existence to include them. We must retain this moving forward, as the new beginnings that we undertake to get to know the ancestors better may bring confusion misunderstanding. Instead, embrace the beginners mind and you will be directed.
