As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Kenaz – “It can mean new information, offspring, transformation, craft, technical or artistic ability.”

Laguz – “It could mean dreams, memory, unconscious growth, the sea of vitality, passing a test, and life.”

Mannaz (Inverted) – “It could mean intellectual arrogance, elitism, bigotry, collective suicide, self-delusion, blindness, mortality, and depression.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers. 

 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Dagaz, the rune of enlightenment. As is revealed by Dagaz being in our past, our enlightenment is at hand. We have begun the journey toward our realization of our paradigm shift. Remembering that enlightenment is a journey and not a destination, we have made the shift within our mind to focus on embracing that which brings us joy, harmony, and peace. We have made the mental shift to achieving a higher form of our selves.  

 

Our present influence is that of Kenaz, and because Kenaz has been revealed in our present, this indicates that we have initiated our cognitive ability to achieve a clarity of thought. By arranging our thoughts in an organized fashion, we are now opening ourselves to new information, new perspectives of old information, as well as opening our minds to the possibilities of what’s is out there in the spiritual path. This is a great rune to have in our present space. 

 

To further reveal our future influences, we have drawn the rune of Laguz. The rune Laguz in our future reveals the reality of maintaining our dreams and goals, for we know that without the active seeking of growth and understanding, there will be none. Laguz reminds us that we must be willing to employ the energy of hope within our everyday lives that this energy is combined with a certain level of trust to establish the love we have for ourselves and others. 

 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Mannaz. In today’s understanding, Mannaz is revealed to us in an upside-down position indicating that it offers us a warning as to controlling our intellectual acquisition. By ensuring that we remember that there are as many understandings of our paths as there are people to travel those paths, we come to an understanding that each belief offers us a small vision into the soul of the individual. We too must remove our critical eyes to another’s path.
