As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Raidho – “It could mean journey, ordered growth, justice, action, sound advice, or rationality.”

Present Influences
Uruz – “It could mean understanding, pragmatic knowledge, health, luck, pattern, tenacity, vitality, constancy, and strength.”

Future Influences
Kenaz – “It can mean new information, offspring, transformation, craft, technical or artistic ability.”

Bedrock (things to remain)
Dagaz – “It means paradigm shift, the ideal, hope-happiness, awareness, or awakening.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers. 

 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Raidho, the rune of the origin. Today, as Raidho appears in an upright state, it represents the journey we have undertaken throughout our lives. From birth, we have been afforded experiences with a reality that has taught us lessons in our direction of travel. But a journey is just an observation until we begin to walk, there requires a level of action in which to engage different experiences that will continue our lessons in reality. 

 

Our present influence is that of Uruz, the rune of manifestation. Uruz represents the raw primal power that lies beneath our skin. Like the wild bovine, it recognizes this power to effect change within our lifetimes, through consistency and brutal strength. But it also represents the pragmatic knowledge from an ordered growth of lessons provided by the many experiences we have had. Uruz also indicates the arrival of luck in our life, with much of that pointing to a healthy lifetime.

 

To further reveal our future influences, we have drawn the rune of Kenaz, the rune of illumination. In our future state, Kenaz indicates that we are in a period of time within our physical existence where new information is being received and being merged with our previous experiences. This combination allows for our spiritual transformation  as we, more tightly, grasp that which is being given clarity of thought to. Our quest for illumination is being realized here in our future. 

 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Dagaz, the rune of enlightenment. In the place of our bedrock in which to build our mindset, Dagaz offers the understanding as to what “enlightenment” means to each of us and that those definitions will not be the same. Dagaz reveals the understanding that we have come, and should retain, our understanding of what the paradoxial truth is for ourselves.
