As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Past Influences

Laguz (Inverted) – “It means, toxicity, poison, fantasy, lack of moral fiber, emotional blackmail, manipulations, depression, withering, avoidance, circular motion, or fear.”

Present Influences
Mannaz- “It means divine influence in life, social order, awareness, intelligence, sustainability, and divine structure.”

Future Influences
Algiz – “It could mean protection, higher life, awakenings, or connection to the gods.”

Perthro – “It could mean evolutionary change, joy, fellowship, knowledge of orlog, and good omens.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers. 

 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Laguz, and today it issues us caution. Today the runes have revealed Laguz in our past issuing us warnings about becoming too lofty in our cognitive thinking. While it is wonderful to keep our heads in the clouds within a dream, we must remember to keep our feet on the physical ground. We must ensure that we maintain an avoidance to allowing the toxicity and poison of the modern world into our conscious thought. 

 

Our present influence is that of Mannaz. Mannaz is the rune of the perfected intellect, and rational mind. Today it reminds us of using our own thought process against the experiences that occur in our lives. Remembering always our connection to the higher form of energy, or gods. Mannaz speaks to us today about the application of social expectation, and our overall structure of our existence to include sustaining our relationships with our deities. 

 

To further reveal our future influences, we have drawn the rune of Algiz. Having Algiz in our future indicates that we will continue to seek and receive a connection to the gods of our beliefs. In addition, we are awakening the ideas of divine communications, and the necessity to have that energy in our everyday existence. While projecting our energy to the gods is a powerful part of Algiz, so too is the listening component. Listening to our heart to what the ancestors bring to us. 

 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Perthro. As we retain our abilities from the here to our future, Perthro speaks about being open to evolutionary changes within our thought processes and emotional states. Remember that our existence is about the journey, not of the destination. Learning to manage the energy within our existence is the lessons we are to take away from this life. We would do well to focus our attention to learning these lessons.
