Happy Thor’s Day to you. Today, I hope your day goes wonderfully. I hope yesterday was good too. I hope that you were able to capture some of the experiences that you had in your life yesterday, and extract those pieces of wisdom at which to learn from. It is so important that we learn from our experiences that we grow, and we grow up here, we grow in here.
Well today, today we celebrate the mighty god Thor. Now, Thor represented a multitude of facets to, certainly to my ancestry of the Norse. Now the first thing he represented was the God of thunder. Now this of course being, a very unique title given to him by his father, as well as the additional gift of the hammer Now, of course, has its own, esteemed, history and experiences. Primarily, the hammer that Thor would be given by his father would be formed from a star, forged by the dwarves.
The dwarves, for those of you not familiar with legend and lore of the Norse, the dwarves were great master forgers. They could forge anything, They made the chains, that held Fenrir. They made, the spear of Ó∂inn. So many different things were they able to smith, in their day. So very important part of Norse legend and lore.
In addition, there were 4 dwarves that would hold up the canopy over, Midgard, and they would be held in high esteem, and they would hold the 4 corners. So Mjolnir with its own history that we won’t get into very much here, Thor was the God of strength. Now, for those of you who haven’t read the sagas or the stories or have ancestry who would have passed these down, Thor represents both the physical strength, obviously had to have a bicep or 2 to be able to carry around the Mjolnir and wield him in battle. But nonetheless, he represented not just physical strength, but mental strength too. For when Thor, on a multitude of occasions, faced challenges from either the frost giants or whoever. Thor remained steadfast in his belief in himself. He always knew he would come out okay. He would be alright. He would conquer whatever was necessary, and he would be able to, accomplish whatever he set out to do. So this is a very important part of Thor that I want us to think about today as we celebrate Thor is that strength of mind, being able to be in control of your own thoughts.
Now I know we say, well, how can you not? Well, you know, everyday influences, they come into our lives, they sometimes they wreak havoc because what do thoughts do? Well, of course, thoughts draw forth emotion. Emotion, of course, alters the filters, filters alters the way we see our world. Therefore, through an effect, right, we wind up altering the way our brain processes how we’re doing in life, and sometimes our perception of how we’re doing in our lives may change.
We may say, I wish I was more successful. I wish I was more rich. I wish I was more this or that or this other thing. But what oftentimes these influences remove from our thought processes is this idea of how wonderful we are. Each and every person, each and every life form on this planet, how wonderful they are.
What a gift.
