Past Energies
Ihwaz – could mean protection, initiation, endurance, and movement toward enlightenment.

Present Energies
Ansuz (Inverted) – could mean bad advice, boredom, manipulation by others, delusion, or misunderstanding.

Future Energies
Jera – means timing, proper, peace, plenty, and reward for positive action.

 
Today, I would like to spread our wings a little when speaking to the gods through our divination. Today, we are going to use the rune layout called “the Fates” which is a layout we would use to reveal a little about our forward trajectory, as things to consider as we experience the events that have yet to occur. This is one of the many layouts that have been taught to me by my great-grandmother. The Fates is a layout that we would use to prepare our mental states for those events that have yet to come. As we can see, the tiles are laid out revealing our trajectory through our physical existence. With the rune on the left identifying our past mental energies. The rune in the middle identifies those mental struggles we are currently experiencing, while the rune to the right is experiences yet to have, or our future.
Our past rune today is Ihwaz, and like some other runes, it is in an indeterminate state, drawing in some level of uncertainty. The drawing of this rune in our past typically indicates that we may have been having some enlightenment regarding the magic energies of existence. It highlights the understanding that we initiated a mental shift toward enlightenment, whether that be through the inclusion of some ancient culture in our modern-day lives, or have absorbed some intellect about that this means from some other source. A wonderful revelation as to the initiation of our active seeking within our newly revealed journey of understanding.
Our present rune today is Ansuz, and today it is an inverted state. This typically indicates that we should exercise some caution when absorbing energy today. As the rune typically indicates listening, inspriation, synthesis, and ultimately, transformation of our thought process, this is also a main avenue for influential energies to enter our processing. By our present being occupied with this inverted rune, we need to be aware of influential energies that are entering our mind which may present one way, yet ultimately, reveal another unwanted aspect to it. This influential energy may be denied from entering our thought process all together by simply remembering to ignore it.
Finally, our future rune is that of Jera. Jera represents the proper timing of everything, reminding us that every experiential lesson we encounter is presented to us at the proper time according to the universe. As we sow the seeds of love, we must remember that it takes what humanity understands as time for those things to grow to their potential. As we experience many different things along our path through our existence, we must remember that the gods will deliver those experiences to teach us the lessons we need to learn at the proper time. Rest in the fact that the events that occur in our lives in the future will have a purpose, and will come into our existence when we are the best prepared for them.
Our Rune reading today indicates that we have initated a much larger view of our existence, by journeying out into the unknown of the spiritual realm. By learning that we have the authority in which to protect our thought process and the way we feel, each and every moment of the day. While there is always some level of uncertainty that is part of living our physical lifetime, our runes tell us that we have begun the journey of understanding that will continue throughout our lifetime. The runes warn us of bad advice, or manipulation by others and to be cautious of this, as we are building a great tower of knowledge, we will want to ensure our foundations are solid. Our future seems to be filled with wonderful experiences that will teach us lessons that we will need to learn, so as to not repeat them. Just as importantly, the future experiences have the potential to give the greatest amount of joy, and peace we’ve ever known.
