Past Influences
Laguz (Inverted)- “It could mean, toxicity, poison, fantasy, lack of moral fiber, emotional blackmail, manipulations, depression, withering, avoidance, circular motion, or fear.

Present Influences
Kenaz (Inverted) – “It could mean over-conceptualization, elitism, arrogance, ignorance, lack of creativity, inability, breakup, decay, and disease.

Future Influences
Uruz – “It could mean understanding, pragmatic knowledge, health, luck, pattern, tenacity, vitality, constancy, and strength.”

Bedrock (things to remain)
Sowilo – “It could mean faith in outcomes, life purpose, honor, goals, success, hope, guidance.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers.

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Laguz, in an inverted position. The gods have shown me that our memories of our past may be perverted by the poison, and toxicity of the time. We must remember when we look back on our past, the memories are reviewed through a very different perspective. We have learned and grown since those day to now, therefore our emotional filters are set differently, thereby causing us to review experiences of our past which may have seemed “normal” or acceptable at the time, may have a different emotional state offered now due the changes within us. Our past is something that we cannot change, for it has laid the foundation, or leaping off point for new adventures that we are experiencing today. Our past, as dark as it may have seemed, is what built the framework for the mental state we are living in today.  

 

Our present influence is that of Kenaz, and it reveals itself in an inverted position as well, simply implying that we should be “on our guard” throughout our present. As is human nature, we sometimes have a tendency to “over think” things. Processes and influences that are as natural as breathing, may become focal points where much of our energy is directed. As Kenaz is inverted, it issues cautions as to ensuring that we do not become immersed in the elitism that infected the world over two thousand years ago. Arrogance and ignorance of reviewing other’s paths is what has led to the division and hate that many still subscribe to whether knowingly or not. We must focus on love and harmony for our fellow lifeforms here on Midgard with us, and seek to unify with love and compassion.

 

To reveal our future influences, we have drawn Uruz, and it is in an upright position. Uruz speaks to us about organic structuring and manifestation. It is a powerful rune that denotes a path of reconciling our understanding of our past to the future of experiencing further growth and expansion of the consciousness. Uruz is the emotional energy of passion, as it represents the “wild” bovine, unlike the domesticated one of Fehu. The gods are speaking of our exercise of understanding through pragmatic knowledge, to bring us luck, health, vitality, and strength. These energies will serve us well into a future of continuing the process we have initiated of growth and expansion, certainly a great rune for our future.

 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune, Sowilo. In today’s casting we are given the rune of Sowilo to reveal that which we will need to maintain within our heart and mind moving from our present into our future. Sowilo indicates a need to evaluate, understanding, and work with, our inner selves, the seat of the soul, or spiritual mind. It reminds us that we must include the entirety of our being, both physiical and spiritual moving into our expanded growth that lies within our future as foretold by Uruz. Sowilo teaches us that we should retain our faith in outcomes, our life’s purpose, our honor, and our goals regardless of what influences attempt to mask them. Sowilo is tha last rune in Hagal’s Aett (or family) thereby controlling a level of chaos within the mind, we can utilize the power of Sowilo to control the path. 

Today’s Affirmation

The runes we have cast today reveal a past in which our memories may, or may not be, an accurate reflections of the experiences we have had. They begin by reminding us that we are ever-changing, moving in and out of emotional states which alter the way we recall the imagery of those memories. The runes indicate that our present mindset is based on altered perspectives of our past experiences, and therefore we should seek to better understand the influences of our present view and forgive ourselves for any intrinsically perceived missteps in our past. We must balance our forgiveness with not forgetting that we are prone to making errors in judgement, and our past simply shows us that we can make these perceived mistakes, as well as knowing that we will make them in the future. This should foster some humility when dealing with others who are just as prone to those perceived missteps as we are. Knowing that those missteps brought us an education, even if the lesson was as simple as to “not do that again”. We must fight against the idea of becoming an elitist, and/or arrogant as to the present path, and never succumb to the idea that there is only one way to reach our destiny. Finally, the rune Sowilo reminds us to retain that energy of hope. By maintaining our faith in the outcome, luck, health, and our life’s purpose, we can be in a better place to take the proper steps to accomplish our destiny.
