As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Nauthiz- “It could mean achievement through effort, personal development and life lessons, need-fire or self-reliance, innovation, recognition of your ultimate truth, or resistance.”

Present Influences
Berkano (Inverted) – “It could mean insecurity, conspiracy, stagnation, sterility, deceit, and the blurring of consciousness.”

Future Influences
Tiwaz (Inverted) – “It could mean, tyranny, defeat, imbalance, injustice, over-sacrifice, over-analysis, or mental paralysis.”

Dagaz – “It could mean paradigm shift, the ideal, hope-happiness, awareness, or awakening.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers.

 

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Nauthiz. The gods have revealed that our past has been filled with the effort taken to bring things into fruition. We have used our physical perseverance to power through the obstacles and bring the things we have into being. The lessons of manifestation have taught us that it requires some level of physical interference for us to manifest things in the physical realm, hope alone will only get us so far. We need to back up our prayers and spells with the construction of avenues for these items to come into our reality along our desired timeline.   

 

Our present influence is that of Berkano, and today the cautions of being inverted are indicated. While our present seems to be dominated by the perceived necessity of seeking shelter and finding a mental sanctuary, we must be cognizant of those forces outside ourselves that attempt to stagnate our growth. Influencing our focus on tyranny, defeat, and conspiracies, will only deplete our energy sources and leave us little in which to manifest our destiny. We must be aware of these energy traps and steer clear of them in our present.

 

To reveal our future influences, we have drawn Tiwaz, the rune of the god Tyr. By being revealed in an inverted position, we can know that it is issuing a warning to our mental state moving into our future path. While the rune is indicative of the god Tyr, as his sills of righteousness, justice, and honor, in this inverted position, it might indicate that we are susceptible to becoming imbalanced along our journey, over-sacrificing our values for the sake of the sanctuary we desperately seek. The rune in this position indicates that we may be succumb to the influences and become mentally paralyzed. We must maintain our footing by taking on challenges that are smaller in number and size. Let us “slow our roll” a little and ensure that we have solid footing within the mind.

 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Dagaz. As the rune to display what we need to constantly keep in mind moving through our lifetime, Dagaz suggests that we consider focusing as much energy as possible on our enlightenment and the idea behind satori. By seeking and maintaining the paradoxical truth, we establish a firm foundation in which to base our growth upon. Dagaz reminds us that it is completely possible to obtain a paradigm shift within our perspectives at any point. We are not required to stay bound to an antiquated methodology of thinking.  Maintain hope in the happiness that awaits us as our mind, becoming aware and awakening the connection to our spirit.

 

Today’s Affirmation

The runes today have revealed several lessons from our past that should provide us with the foundation to move along our path. While the lessons have provided a great base in which to grow from, we have cautions to adhere to in our present and into our future that hopefully provide us with some action steps to secure the mind, one is that of taking time within the sanctuary of our mind, denying that energy of less desirability like conspiracy and division. The other action step we can take away from today’s runes is that of maintaining our balance by taking time to “chunk down” those challenges to make them more manageable. Ultimately, we should understand that we are on the path of enlightenment. Enlightenment does not always guarantee ease, or softness, as it has always been the blacksmith’s hammer that has forged the steel of weapons and armor. This means that we must accept the fact that there can be no light without dark, for it is only through the contrast of these two forces do we recognize their differences. Therefore, we cannot obtain the intellect of illumination without first experiencing the darkness of misunderstanding and ignorance. Remember always that you are your best ally, have faith in who you are, and believe in who you will become. For the paradigm shift of our perspectives is within our control to make.
