As we seek to understand the influences that we have experienced, as well as the experiences we’ve yet to have, we search for an answer as to what force we must keep in reserve to help us on our path toward our destiny. To visualize these influences and counter-energies, we will call upon the layout of the “four winds” that we may learn of our adversaries and allies in our mental battle for safety.

Laguz (Inverted) – “It could mean, toxicity, poison, fantasy, lack of moral fiber, emotional blackmail, manipulations, depression, withering, avoidance, circular motion, or fear.

Jera – “It could mean timing, proper, peace, plenty, and reward for positive action.”

Each morning, I engage in prayer, or communion with my gods. Each day they offer me wisdom and knowledge, and in return I offer them myself that they may do with me that which they need to. I have felt the gods manage my engagements throughout the years, and especially lately, engaging me in a multitude of ways. Today, I offer to you that which was told to me by the gods in this morning’s prayers.

To reveal the influences of our past, we have drawn the rune of Nauthiz, and because of its indeterminate state in our past position, indicates that we can make a choice as to carry the energy forward with us, or discard it . Nauthiz recognizes the effort we have put in toward our spiritual growth. Whether we acknowledge it or not, we have experienced events that have given rise to our emotional states, thereby altering our perception of reality. This alteration has connected knowledge stacks within the mind in particular ways necessary for our spiritual growth. It also recognizes the understanding that these are the building blocks in which to construct a future that we will reside.

Our present influence is that of Laguz, and today it brings us cautions in our present. Although Laguz is the rune of love and unconscious mental processing, today it brings us cautions as to accepting the energies of the negative sort. It warns us about toxicity, and losing our grasp on reality, understanding that the experiences we have are necessary for us to grow in the direction of our future. While many have weaponized the use of emotion, we must focus on remaining clear of being pulled in by that eddy of energy, as well as ensuring that we do not pull anyone else off their path using the same practices. Embrace the lessons of the past, see how we’ve controlled the emotional states, continue to replicate that moving through our present.

To reveal our future influences, we have drawn Jera, the rune of the seasons. While the modern language has adopted the pronunciation of the word Jera (spoken year-a), Jera actually represents the seasons, not as much the passing of time. Like the inhale and exhale, one drives the other, giving life to the incoming while destroying the last. There is a season for everything that occurs throughout our lifetime. Events and experiences will occur at certain points along our trajectory in an effort to assist us in guiding our lives along the path. Be aware of these influences for what they are, be sure to evaluate each to determine it appropriateness within your existence at that time. 

To understand what influences we should retain, we have drawn the rune Raidho in an inverted state, indicating caution to retain. The physical realm is filled with influences that seek to push or pull our “line of congruence” out of line. These influences range from the subtle nudges, to the extreme experiences of emotional trauma. We must ensure that we retain the balance between our heart and our mind, and stress the idea of keeping them in line together. It would be easy to fall victim to the whims of hypocrisy, irrationality, injustice, which in-turn, will seem as if we become too rigid, over-controlling, and absorb it as a crisis. Be cautions to carry our lessons of the past, as it should remind us of the action steps necessary to retain our mental sanctity.

Today’s Affirmation

The gods have offered us wisdom and guidance through the runes today. The runes have recognized those steps we have made in our past to being our spiritual journey of peace and harmony. By putting in the effort to reach an expanded consciousness state, we may feel as if we are exposing our soft underbelly, however, this feeling of vulnerability is a necessary part of receiving energy from the universe and our gods. Seeking a path of avoidance to those unwanted energies like the toxicity of some, or dishonor of others, we can know in our hearts that the “season” for the gifts we receive will come. The universe will align the necessary energies for you when you are ready to receive them. Our lesson here is to avoid blocking these energies from being received by the spiritual mind when they arrive. Your future brings your existence back into balance with the “seasons” necessary, represented by Jera in our future. The experiences you need to have will arrive in your trajectory at the perfect time that your mind is ready to receive them. Finally, we should retain our memory of those unwanted energies from our past so as to recognize them earlier this time, should they attempt to influence us in the future. By discarding these unwanted energies before they influence our thought process, we will better set ourselves up for a successful future endeavor.
